I was out for a run this morning, about one kilometre in, and I was just going through the motions with one step in front of the other. I'll be honest, it was a plodding jog but it makes me feel I'm keeping fit.
I approached an elderly lady and I recognised her. I'm used to smiling at people I pass when I run so that they think I'm friendly. I also feel I'm somewhat apologising for being a bit rubbish.
As I got close to the lady she smiled a lovely gentle smile, have me a thumbs up and said "Well done."
She'd done the same the lady time I saw her and both times it made my day.
It made my smile broader and just lifted my mood. Every time I think about it, it makes me happy.
It was such a small gesture but so kind and generous.
It doesn't take much to lift someone's mood and make someone feel better about themselves.
I was only going out for a 5k run but ended up running 10k.
